Himachal Pradesh Weather Update: Fresh Snowfall in Atal Tunnel Rohtang and Tribal Areas of Himachal Pradesh

The Atal Tunnel Rohtang and the tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh recently experienced a fresh round of snow.

While the Atal Tunnel Rohtang and the higher reaches of Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba and Kinnaur received snowfall from Tuesday morning. New Delhi: In a much-awaited turn of precipitation in the dry spell, the weather in Himachal Pradesh has changed a lot and farmers and orchardists are feeling relief due to precipitation from the sky.

In the region, tourists and locals have been advised not to travel in view of continuous snowfall at both ends of the Atal Tunnel, police administration said. Cloudy weather with intermittent sunshine continued in the capital Shimla. Tourists flock the south portal of Atal Tunnel Rohtang to relish the fresh snow. Upper areas of Kinnaur are receiving heavy snowfall and the lower areas are experiencing rain.

Himachal Pradesh Havaman Update

Himachal Pradesh is likely to face light to moderate snowfall and rain in different parts of the state on February 4 due to the effect of a Western Disturbance, knows the Meteorological Center Shimla. There could be light snow in some areas on February 5. Sporadic snow, too, may be seen in higher-altitude regions from February 8 to 10.

The rest of the week looks likely to stay dry. But temperatures are about to oscillate:

  • The temperatures are likely to decrease by 4-5°C in the coming two days while the next 2-3 days will see an increase of 4-5°C with respect to the maximum temperatures.
  • There could be a rise of 2-3°C in minimum temperatures during the next 24 hours, but a fall of 2-3°C is expected in the next 3-4 days.
  • Some areas are also likely to see dense fog on February 6 and 7.

Where Will It Snow & Where Will It Rain?

From February 4 till the night of February 5, certain areas will witness light snowfall but moderate snowfall is predicted in the Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Kangra, Chamba, Shimla, Mandi, Sirmaur and Kullu districts at higher altitudes. Light to moderate rain may occur in other parts of these districts.

Light to moderate rainfall is also likely in the districts of Solan, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, and Una.

Popular tourist destinations near Shimla such as Kufri, Narkanda, Manali as well as Solang Valley, Dalhousie and Sissu may see fresh snowfall.

  • Shimla – 7.5°C
  • Sundernagar – 5.0°C
  • Bhuntar – 4.6°C
  • Kalpa – 2.4°C

  • Una – 3.0°C
  • Nahan – 8.1°C
  • Keylong – 0.3°C
  • Manali – 4.1°C
  • Dalhousie – 3.9°C
  • Kukumseri – -3.4°C
  • Tabo – -7.1°C

New snowfall & rain bring relief to Chamba

Light rain was recorded in the afternoon at Chamba district headquarters, while light snowfall in higher regions of Bharmour and Pangi intensified the cold. People visiting Chamba for shopping and other things had to hide in shelter due to sudden rainfall. Farmers and orchardists in the area welcomed the precipitation, which provided much-needed reprieve after a period of extended dry conditions.
