Maharashtra Havaman: Unseasonal Rains in Maharashtra, IMD Issues Alert!

Maharashtra Weather: The weather across Maharashtra is undergoing a significant shift, with unexpected unseasonal rains lashing several regions.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this unusual weather pattern is not just a short-term occurrence—it is expected to persist for the next 15 to 20 days, lasting until May 31, 2025.

This means that large parts of Maharashtra will continue to experience intermittent cloudy skies, thunderstorms, hailstorms, and light to moderate rainfall until the monsoon officially arrives in Kerala. These pre-monsoon showers, accompanied by strong winds, lightning, and rumbling clouds, hold crucial implications for farmers and residents alike.

How Will These Rains Affect Maharashtra’s Weather?

1. Drop in Daytime Temperatures

The recent unseasonal downpour has brought much-needed relief from the scorching summer heat. Over the past few days, Maharashtra was reeling under intense sunlight, but the sudden cloud cover and thunderstorms have led to a noticeable drop in temperatures.

As a result, both daytime highs and early morning lows are expected to remain below average for the rest of May. While there may be minor fluctuations, extreme heat waves and excessive sweating are unlikely in the coming weeks.

2. Monsoon Progress & Pre-Monsoon Activity

The IMD has reported that the monsoon has already entered the Andaman Sea and the Southeast Bay of Bengal, triggering heavy rainfall in those regions. These weather developments indicate that the monsoon is on track to reach Kerala between May 23 and May 31.

Typically, after hitting Kerala, the monsoon takes 8 to 10 days to advance into Maharashtra. However, pre-monsoon showers will continue across the state until the end of May, setting the stage for the upcoming Kharif season.
