As North India braces for rising temperatures, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released its latest weather forecast, indicating significant changes in weather patterns across the country. Delhi residents can expect clear skies today, but several states, including Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Kerala, may witness rainfall and thunderstorms in the coming days.
Temperature Trends Across India
According to the IMD report, Northwest India is likely to experience a steady rise of 5-7°C in maximum temperatures between 31 March and 3 April. Meanwhile, Gujarat and Bihar will see a 2-3°C increase in daytime temperatures, with Bihar’s weather stabilizing after 1 April.
Rainfall Alert: Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds Expected
A weather trough and wind convergence over Central India and Maharashtra will trigger scattered to moderate rainfall in several regions, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-60 km/h). Key areas likely to be affected include:
- West Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh (1-3 April)
- Vidarbha (1 April)
- East Madhya Pradesh (2-3 April)
- Maharashtra & Gujarat (31 March – 3 April)
- Kerala, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka (1-3 April)
Heavy rainfall is also predicted for:
- Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Coastal Karnataka (2-3 April)
- Kerala (2-5 April)
Delhi Weather Outlook: Clear Skies with Rising Heat
For Delhi-NCR, the IMD forecasts mainly clear weather on 31 March, with winds blowing at 10-20 km/h. The heatwave-like conditions will persist, with no rain expected until at least 3 April, when partial cloud cover may appear. However, strong winds (20-30 km/h, gusting up to 40 km/h) could sweep through the capital on 4 April, followed by clear skies again on 5 April.
