Moreover, a low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal is anticipated to bring additional rainfall to the state.
Additionally, the IMD has announced the development of Cyclonic Storm Tej, originating from a low-pressure area in the southeast and adjoining southwest Arabian Sea, on the upcoming Saturday. This would mark the second cyclonic storm in the Arabian Sea for this year.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Meteorological Center has informed that monsoon has started in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Monsoon likely to reach over South India in next 48 hours. The Meteorological Department also said that monsoon will be weak at the beginning. Cyclone Tej has formed in the Arabian Sea. According to the Meteorological Department, the low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into an extreme low pressure by tomorrow.

The Central Meteorological Department has said that moderate/moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely over Kerala for the next 5 days and isolated heavy rain is also likely on October 23 and 24. The Central Meteorological Department also informed that the extremely low pressure over the southwest Arabian Sea has intensified into a cyclone.
It is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm in the next 12 hours and a very strong cyclonic storm in the next 24 hours. According to the Central Meteorological Department, the cyclone traveled in the north-northwest direction till the morning of October 22 and then in the northwest direction till the morning of October 24 and it is likely to make landfall on the Yemen-Oman coast between Al Gaidak (Yemen) and Salalah by the morning of October 25.

Low pressure is located over southeast Bay of Bengal and central-east Bay of Bengal. It is likely to intensify into an extreme low pressure over central West Bay of Bengal by October 22. It is likely to move in a north-northwesterly direction for the next 3 days and move towards the Bangladesh West Bengal coast. A cyclonic vortex exists over the Comorin region.
