So far, the monsoon season has left more half the country, with the phenomenon leaving parts of Maharashtra, North Karnataka and Telangana a day earlier than expected. Some northeastern and east-central parts of the state, including Bihar, Jharkhand and areas of Chhattisgarh, continue to witness a more delayed exit.

As the main monsoon trough departs, a couple of troughs near West Bengal and South India are ensuring that many parts of the country continue to experience wet weather. As a result, heavy rains are on the cards for parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka and Kerala this week.
